Position Overview

As Chief Technology Officer (CTO), you will lead the technology direction of our Company and our Product while staying close to delivery and architectural decisions. This is a hands-on strategic role in a growing company. You’ll balance long-term vision with day-to-day technical leadership: modernising our Microsoft-centric platform (C#, Azure PaaS), providing technology support and overall integration of our AI and Data Science teams ad products, ensuring rigorous compliance with healthcare and financial services regulations, and fostering a culture of disciplined engineering, innovation, and measurable impact on maintainability and the outcomes our clients experience from our Product deployments.

Key Responsibilities

Technology Strategy and Governance

  • Define and own the technology vision and roadmap, evolving our modular microservices architecture to maximize agility, scalability, and resilience.
  • Establish and uphold governance frameworks balancing innovation, security, and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure all technical solutions meet privacy and data protection standards aligned with healthcare and financial services regulations.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies including AI, automation, and data-driven solutions to enhance product benefits and outcomes.

Engineering Leadership and Delivery Excellence

  • Provide architectural leadership across backend (.NET/C#) and frontend systems, guiding continued modernisation efforts of our technology stack and usage.
  • Oversee infrastructure automation and Azure deployment strategies, ensuring reliability, repeatability, and cost efficiency.
  • Lead and mentor a team of ~10 engineers, embedding practices around quality, security, and continuous delivery.
  • Align engineering execution with company priorities, ensuring predictable delivery and technical excellence.

AI Platform and Product Intelligence

  • Drive the evolution of EBO’s AI platform, unifying conversational AI, behavioural science, and automation into a cohesive ecosystem that scales across healthcare and financial services use cases.
  • Ensure alignment between core AI research, model training pipelines, and enterprise deployment frameworks maintaining traceability, interpretability, and regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with product and behavioural teams to translate cognitive and linguistic data into adaptive, data-driven experiences that improve engagement and adherence.

AI, Data, and Patient-Centric Innovation

  • Partner with data and AI collaborators to identify and integrate capabilities such as generative AI, predictive analytics and methods of automated customer interactions.
  • Promote best practices in model transparency, accuracy, and ethical AI use.
  • Shape data strategy to turn clinical and operational data into actionable insights and revenue generating opportunities.

Collaboration and External Engagement

  • Collaborate with compliance, product, and executive teams to translate client needs into technology solutions.
  • Build productive relationships with partners, vendors, and regulators to ensure best practice and sustained innovation.
  • Contribute to technology culture and future leadership hiring as the organization scales.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years in progressive technology leadership roles, ideally within regulated SaaS or healthtech environments.
  • Demonstrated success in microservices adoption, cloud-native engineering on Azure, infrastructure-as-code, and modern frontend frameworks.
  • Strategic yet hands-on leadership style—able to guide architecture while scaling people, processes, and governance.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience aligning technology with business outcomes.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; Azure, cloud security, or AI certifications advantageous.

Leadership Attributes

  • Visionary yet pragmatic leader who balances innovation with operational discipline.
  • Effective mentor fostering a high-performing, diverse engineering culture.
  • Confident communicator who builds trust across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Passionate about healthcare impact and delivering technology that improves patient outcomes.
